Have you considered volunteering in a credit union?
Volunteers are a vital element of Bruff Credit Union. We rely on their enthusiasm and skills in order to achieve our goals and continue to deliver a strong service within our community. It is important that these skills are passed on to new volunteers so that the credit union can continue to develop.
Remember – You don’t need to be a financial expert to volunteer.
We welcome people with a diverse range of skills, competencies and experience. Whether you have an hour or two to spare or can commit more time, there may be a role for you. Bruff Credit Union committees offer an excellent starting point for new volunteers. These committees provide experience, learning and an active role within the credit union.

This year, we’re celebrating our 50th Anniversary.
When you volunteer, you can develop both personally and professionally:
- Learn new skills
- Develop new interests
- Increase your employability
- Practice your professional skills
- Improve your self-confidence
- Work on developmental and business projects
- Have a purpose, sense of achievement
- Meet new people, have a sense of belonging
- Do something you enjoy
- Give something back to the community
Volunteering is mutually beneficial and very rewarding
Volunteering is mutually beneficial to both the volunteer and credit union. Volunteers assist with the running of many committees, adding their skills, knowledge and experience, contributing to better governance and decision making. In return, the credit union provides training and support to introduce and guide them in their new role.
Don’t know much about credit unions?
Don’t worry, you can learn. There are policies and training in place to support volunteers in their roles. In addition to the induction training programme for all new volunteers, ongoing training is available and people are encouraged to develop various skills. You’ll be surprised how quickly you will pick things up.
Ok, I’m ready. What do I do next?

All volunteers are subject to the normal fitness and probity regimes for credit unions as outlined by the Central Bank of Ireland. The Credit Union reserves the right to refuse a person as a volunteer and where appropriate will give a reason for that refusal as Bruff Credit Union is bound by the standards of Fitness & Probity, issued by the Central Bank of Ireland.
